 August 30, 1982, Howard Stern began his radio show in the New York market on WNBC, but the show gained national syndication and major prominence after he started broadcasting on New York's WXRK-FM on November 17, 1985, moving to mornings and syndicating the show in 1986. He was widely known as the quintessential "shock jock" due to his controversial and boundary-pushing radio style.

Probably the most famous of those Radio folks that pushed the boundaries.

Prior to that, we had a notorious Tart on a local station - WHJY. She went by the name of Carolyn Fox, her suffering sidekick by the name of Rudy Cheeks (get it?).

Carolyn was born Carolyn Berman, and was a year behind me in High School. She was a wallflower then that never said a peep. The Carolyn Fox alterego was just the opposite with her gutter humor & off color jokes...

Stern has a place on or near the ocean not too far from me. I know a guy that went to work for him as a caretaker for his property. This guy knows the caretaking business and has worked for some prominent people over the years. Two weeks after working for Stern he quit. He said he was a complete jerk and spoke to people in a very condescending manner. I agreed with him when he said that there’s too many nice people to work for than deal with someone like that!

That is so true for a multitude of trades.... unfortunately, only the clowns leave a lasting impression - like a bad rash.
