T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,898 #2 Posted 8 hours ago I really wish you guys would stop putting down other brands, they will all break down eventually. The truth is, that slogan started with Deere's snowmobile line in the early 1970s. And it stuck. And the truth is that Deere makes probably the best line of lawn and garden tractors today with their X series line, made in Horicon, Wisconsin. Their 7 gauge deck, known as the 7 Iron, is the only 7 gauge deck that is stamped from a single piece of steel. The other manufacturers have to fabricated their commercial decks, using 7 gauge for the sides and 10 gauge for the top section and welding them together to make a deck. Only Deere has a press large enough to stamp 7 gauge metal. Rounded corners means less material buildup to corrode and rust a deck. It's also sad, though, that Deere choses to penalize their ag buyers with their policy for repairs. I know the auto industry wants to do this as well. Sad. 4

My brother in Vt always ask me why I hate J.D. I always tell him I don’t hate John Deere. I hate the color yellow just never could stand looking at that color.. And in Vermont being called the green Mountain state I guess it just fits. I also would like to add there is a ton of those tractors up there people love them In that state. I guess I could say John Deere’s is king from what I can see. I’ll stick with red.

I tell my wife I don't find fault with other women, I just prefer her, . Besides, the phrase is "NOTHING RUNS LIKE A DEERE BEING CHASED BY A WHEEL HORSE." 1
Pullstart 70,835 #6 Posted 5 hours ago (edited) I consider it ribbing just like hot rods. I’m a Chevy guy. We need the competition to be competitive, and I appreciate them all, but I can’t see myself driving a truck where they circle the problem on the grille! I'm with Kev on the ribbing part don't go to thinking the JD owners don't talk about the WH stuff. @Pullstart Does Chevy still give a free puppy with every purchase? Just so you don't have to walk alone when it lays down on ya. Edited 4 hours ago by sqrlgtr
8ntruck 9,094 #9 Posted 2 hours ago I agree. Just good natured trash talk humor. One of the guys I worked with is a Mustang fan. One day he had his latest acquisition in the parking lot and was talking about it to a couple three other folks, I walk up and say "looks fast. What's in it? A small block and a Powerglide?" Got a priceless reaction out of everybody, laughter, confusion, and of course the "oh man" reaction from the owner.
