MainelyWheelhorse 2,800 #1 Posted Thursday at 06:35 PM (edited) I found these knobs while looking around online. My order hasn’t been shipped yet, but we’ll see how the process goes as Carr Lane deals primarily with industrial customers. So far so good though. Not to step on anyone’s toes but I thought I’d try them out and see how it goes. Edited Thursday at 06:38 PM by MainelyWheelhorse 2
rmaynard 17,409 #2 Posted Thursday at 08:12 PM Where will you be using these knobs?
ri702bill 12,398 #3 Posted Thursday at 09:04 PM Looks like a Mule Drive Adjuster Knob... I have used plenty of both Carr Lane & Jergens parts over the years. They can be pricey, but excellent quality.
rmaynard 17,409 #4 Posted Thursday at 09:24 PM Wouldn't they have to be drilled and pinned? Not that that is a problem if you have a drill press.
MainelyWheelhorse 2,800 #5 Posted Thursday at 09:39 PM @rmaynard it’s a replacement for the knob on my mule drive for the 42” RD. The original was long gone and was tightened by using a vice grip. I’m going to have to pin it but it’s supposed to be already tapped 3/8 -16 which was the same as the stock one from the info on here. I have access to a drill press so it shouldn’t be too bad. I figured I’d find something as close as I could get. @ri702bill That’s what I’m using it for. it looks promising and at roughly 5 bucks a knob before shipping the price wasn’t too bad as well. The ordering process takes some getting used to but I have it figured out now. Good to know about the quality. I figured it being industrial it should be pretty sturdy. We’ll see how it goes. It’s not an exact match but close enough to be usable. 3

There isn’t any splines inside the old brass insert on mine. I thought of tapping the end of the shaft 3/8-16, locktighting, and pinning it if need be. From what I’ve seen on mine, keeping with Wheel Horses philosophy of simplicity. There’s not much to them, the knob is pinned on(at least with mine) to what looks like a fine thread bolt with the head cut off. Simple direct stuff. Easy to fix. If someone had one to take measurements from and the knowledge and access to a machine shop they wouldn’t be super difficult to reproduce.

The brass or whatever its made out off insert inside bore is smooth and pinned on to the mule drive adj. bolt. I should have been more clear in my description. Still don't know how clear this description is and hope I haven't confused you . Bottom line is Ive never seen one that has threads in knob.
MainelyWheelhorse 2,800 #11 Posted yesterday at 10:38 AM Ok, now that you phrased it that way I remember seeing the knurling/splines. Once it gets here I’ll look it over and see if I need to adapt it to work.
MainelyWheelhorse 2,800 #12 Posted 8 hours ago Just a heads up, my stuff shipped but I was charged 50.00 for UPS ground shipping through them. I think next time I’ll go through Amazon where they have a storefront and shipping is handled by a third party. I learned a lesson today.

MainelyWheelhorse 2,800 #15 Posted 5 hours ago Yeah, I was less than happy about that. Especially when there was no option to pick what you got and the shipping charge popped up only when it shipped. I emailed them to figure out why it was 4x the price it should be and basically wasted my time. I’m definitely going through Amazon next time then they might be a bit more cooperative. The only reason I bring this up is if you're not satisfied you can take item back to any Wally world and get a refund. Just done this with a set of tri rib front tires no fuss return, totally my fault I had ordered the wrong size..
