701 hood question

Recommended Posts

compston_family@hotmail.c

Hello all,

I have a somewhat worn 701 which I am having fun getting back into shape.

The latest problem to be solved is that at some point the hood was removed without removing the wingnut screw and the tab securing the front of the hood was ripped off and discarded.

So does anyone have a picture of this tab so I can fabricate another one?

Thank you.

Mike

Mine isn't "factory" by any means, but I had to replace what was there.

Wow! Thanks guys. Mine isn't rusted at all, and all the pictures give me what I need to fabricate the "tab".

I can turn the knob for the 1/4-20 screw to fasten it to the tractor.

Thanks again!

A word about the knurled knobs, especially the one in the front. I have lost at least three of the front knobs from vibrating loose. I solved that problem by placing a lock or star washer under the knob. On the side knobs I use nylon washers to keep from damaging the paint.

2nd that Bob. I lost so many i don't run them any more 'cept for special occasions. Usually always within arms length of a philips anyway.

Thank you- I was looking at that, and I wondered if I could cross drill the screw and put in a cotter pin to prevent it from getting away?
