kpinnc 18,667 #1 Posted yesterday at 03:56 AM (edited) My home caught fire this afternoon. No one was injured (one cat had some smoke inhalation) but the house is not habitable. Shockingly, my garage area and tractors was the only part that recieved no damage. The fire was in the attic, and only two rooms were badly burned. Unfortunately the rest of the damage came from putting it out. Ceilings were pulled down and tonight when I left, whatever wasn't torn down was falling from all the water required to put it out. Not sure what comes next but I ask that those of you who believe will keep my family in your prayers. It's gonna be tough for a while on us just having somewhere to call home. And thank God for first responders. They were on site 2 minutes after I called 911. Amazing individuals! And thanks ahead of time for the prayers. The fact that my family is safe is a blessing in itself! Edited yesterday at 03:58 AM by kpinnc 1 6

stevebo-(Moderator) 8,730 #3 Posted yesterday at 08:12 AM So sorry to hear this. I went through the same thing about 7-8 years ago. Get insurance company involved right away as they have companies that can come help mitigate the damage and dry things out. In the end you will have all new and back to normal. Prayers your way buddy. 1

Prayers your way buddy. Thanks Steve. I'm supposed to hear from an adjuster later today. Hopefully they can help me navigate our next move. Helpless doesn't cover the feeling right now. When we left at midnight water was still dripping everywhere. The insurance lady I spoke with was talking tarps and plywood and just didn't understand until I told her that you can see stars in every room. A tarp isn't gonna work for this. Once we get some answers things will be better. Thanks again for the prayers! Edited yesterday at 08:37 AM by kpinnc

parsonsponyz 353 #8 Posted yesterday at 10:35 AM It is a blessing everyone got out of there alright, including the animals. Hope the feline is doing better. Thoughts and prayers will be going your way. My father went through similar event last year and had to help him through the renovation. You are progressing in the right direction having the adjuster already involved. They will get things moving quickly. 1

WHX?? 57,044 #17 Posted 21 hours ago Wow sorry to hear KP. I don't even wish this on guys I don't like. Prayers the insurance company comes through but still that don't help the pain and work of starting over. In the end its glad no injuries and just remember it just stuff like lumber and drywall except for the the irreplaceable tractors . That being said look for the good and stand tall. EB-80/8inPA 2,016 #21 Posted 15 hours ago Keep the faith, it will all work out. Went through that as a young lad in the middle of winter. Watching your home burn is no fun at all. You may need to hire your own adjuster to make sure the insurer doesn’t cut corners, though. They make money collecting premiums and investing the proceeds. There’s no money for them paying claims.

But thank you so much for the thought. 1 hour ago, 953 nut said: I pray that the process of repairing the damage will go smoothly for you and your family Greatly appreciated. We did find out today that they are approving a camper on site as opposed to putting us up somewhere else. This is a huge blessing because we will be at home instead of driving all over the place. Given we have so many critters to look after, this is awesome!

I found both my "straight from the horses mouth" and they were perfectly fine as well. I also found all our documents safe and sound, and all the photo albums were dry and undamaged other than having a bit of smell of course. We have been very lucky all things considered. 1
