rmaynard 17,261 #1 Posted 20 hours ago So while reading about the proper set-up of the governor, I noticed this for the first time. Described as a drive pin. What is it's function?

ri702bill 12,267 #4 Posted 13 hours ago As the throttle lever end moves downward from the pull of the cable, it rotates the speed control disc in a CCW direction. The drive pin is supposed to be there to assure the disc moves that way too.
rmaynard 17,261 #5 Posted 10 hours ago The issue is that it only appears on the drawing in the manual, but I have never seen one on the actual disk. I thought it might be a disposable pin that was only used for initial set-up. Here's three disks, 2 on working engines, 1 spare. No pins. And other than the one mention in the manual, nothing more is said about it.

If so, it does not move as the throttle cable is pulled. It is there to secure the cable. Only the speed control disk moves.
squonk 46,917 #7 Posted 8 hours ago The disc I have has the pin. I will try to figure out what it does when I get back from errands.
ri702bill 12,267 #8 Posted 7 hours ago My bad! Correct the lever is stationary in use, but can be rotated into a workable position prior to tightening the nut. A hard stop for the disc to stabilize low speed setting??
rmaynard 17,261 #9 Posted 6 hours ago We may never know, as all of mine that have that type of disk do not have a pin. I know that @wallfish knows a bit more about these things than I. Maybe he will add his These questions concerning the governor from me have been generated by my problem that I am having with my Commando 8. I think that I will start another thread specifically on that subject so that it doesn't get lost in this one.
squonk 46,917 #10 Posted 4 hours ago @rmaynard My 875 has that pin. It does nothing. All I can see it possibly do is limit how far down you can lower the throttle bracket 2
