Late Spring Snowblower Score

Wasn't looking for a snowblower, but happened to catch a good deal on a really clean tall chute nearby our office in Plymouth, MI.

Should be a nice upgrade from my crusty old short chute.

Just need to take it the @peter lena school of lubrication before I store it for the summer.

A lot less blast spray off the chute compared to a shortie so you won't look so much like a snowman afterwards. 

You can tweak those auger ends back into shape with a crescent wrench.

Yup - annual maintenance item.

Sell the old one in the fall - and it's a win-win.

@Bar Nuthin good score , if nothing else , get a good penetrating oil  spray down on that  , to feed that dried chalky paint , retain / recover original patina , also a good time to  use a  threading  die nut , on the lever end of the chute swing  rod  ?  what could you possibly do ?  pick up a matching  threaded  screw on knob , local  h/ ware , big box , much better with gloves / mittens , pam spray  chute , for slick discharge . also like a  snow  slider  gasket under the chute base , for  effortless  swing . agree on the auger  blade , rebend , chain / cable spray on auger drive , have regularly tweaked , any hang up spots , sold one like that years ago ,  pete

Yeah, I noticed that after I took the photos. I think I have it dialed in now. gave it a test spin at full RPM and don't notice any vibration or shaking.

I think it may have been bent in transit or storage, as there's nothing that would indicate impact from being used. Doesn't look like it's seen much use at all.

Appears to be original paint. The guy I bought it from had a few tractors, wagons, and implements, etc. - but his outside property was smaller than my driveway. His concrete drive was only about 50' long.

He also had rebuilt K341 spec engine under his workbench, but he wasn't parting with that.

I thank GOD that we generally don’t need snow blowers here in NW Arkansas (ONE time, we got 2’ of snow all at once… would have been handy then!), but THAT is the kind of deal I’d hope to stumble upon if I was searching for a blower, that’s for SURE!

9 times out of 10 my snowplow blade is adequate here in NE Indiana. This past winter we had a couple of storms that were a challenge because I couldn't get enough snow out of the way to start cutting into it. My old snow blower got the job done, but the short chute and its cable control were problematic. I needed more control over where I shoot the snow.

 

Also, I lived through the Blizzard of '78, so I know we're not immune to some ridiculous drifting.
