Fuel pump is leaking on my C160

I noticed that the fuel pump on my C160 is leaking. The attached pic is after I had wiped it with a rag. But it looked to me like it was leaking from the top cover area. In and out hoses are good. The pump has the letter B casted into it. I would appreciate suggestions for repairing what I have….. not real interested in converting to an electric pump, but I guess I could if necessary. Thank you!

I have had great success rebuilding the fuel pumps on mine. I sourced the parts from https://www.thenandnowautomotive.com/ and you can call and talk to a real person .

Leaking oil or gas??

DO check your oil - pull the dipstick and smell it for raw gas... If present - fix the pump & change the oil before starting it.!

Better off with a Facet posit too electric. Easy to do.

Leaking gas..... and it doesn't appear to be getting in the oil. It's running down the front of the block. Not pouring down, but wet and noticable gas smell in the shed. 

 

OK, OK..... please point me to a good how-to for the electric pump........ then I can compare and weigh the options.  Thank you for the pointers.

I went this route.   Kawasaki fuel pump.  Homemade mounting plate.

Mounted an electric pump on this C81 on the frame and ran the + wire up to the coil connection. 

 

Starts when your reaching for the key, no hesitation.

 

Was ,messing with some steel tubing but not necessary. I mounted the filter near the tank.

No - the output pressure is too high and would cause constant carb flooding.

The low pressure Facet that @squonk mentioned is the one of choice.....

Here's some better pictures of the mounting plate I made.  If you go this route use a genuine Kawasaki pump.  They are made in Japan by Mikuni.  Much better quality than the Chinese knock off pumps.

 Mike and I swear buy them 1to 2 Psi for most but a 16 may be the next step up? If you go this route you will need a cover where the pump was. eBay has them.

As long as the old pump isn't leaking oil, just leave the hoses off and use the pump to block the hole. I've had an electric on my C160 for over 5 years with the old pump still on it.
