clueless 3,392 #1 Posted 4 hours ago My 704 (little red) is getting to the point where it takes several pulls to start. I know it sounds like not a problem but both my wife, she uses it more than me, both have arthritis in our shoulder, among other place. I have K181, a M8 and a K161 starter generator, will any of the work with out much fabrication. I know I'll have to do some wiring for it but that what I've got you guys for. 702854boy 671 #2 Posted 3 hours ago (edited) If the k181 is the type with the bendix starter it might be able to work but with a smaller battery, I forget who but someone did it with lawn ranger a few months ago Edited 3 hours ago by 702854boy
ri702bill 11,944 #3 Posted 2 hours ago If you go with the M8, the wiring gets simpler - both are magneto ignition, yes??
pfrederi 20,344 #4 Posted 1 hour ago I happen to really like S/G so the K161 S/G would be my choice, Either M8 or k181 you will have battery clearance issues and for some reason the smaller motorcycle batteries are expensive.
squonk 46,216 #5 Posted 17 minutes ago Give me the tractor back and I'll fix it! ( someday) Seriously since that tractor sits a lot and that damp (cough cough) environment, I would look at giving the points a cleaning. I had to put a set on it shortly after I got it as it was a Bear to start.
