gt14rider 1,157 #1 Posted 6 hours ago Hi all, well I've been working on my 856, starting with a broken cam, so new rings ,rebuilt carb, rebuilt fuel pump, new valves, glassed the head, points and condenser, plug wire. Then layer #2 see (previous post Steering upgrade). Then layer #3 I had it that far torn down might as well do the transmission. The 1533 bearing were toasted, and outer axle bearing as well. Seems the 1533 bearings had only one seal removed, blocking oil to the outer bearings. Then while pulling the seals i chipped a bearing cage. Ordered and waiting for parts. 953 nut 65,165 #4 Posted 4 hours ago Like @ebinmaine I have seen the seals turned in, out or none at all. There is enough oil sloshing around in there that the will remain well lubricated. gt14rider 1,157 #6 Posted 3 hours ago I got the tractor and flushed it with diesel 2 or 3 times, then flushed with 80/90wt a couple times, till it ran clean. Mowed 3 acres for two years with it. Those bearings must have been grinding the rust for a while. Tractor ran good little bit of seepage around the brake shaft seal and the case gasket but not bad. @ri702bill hitch pin wasn't to bad, the hitch is what was stuck, the ends of pin looked like thay were peened over. Two minutes with the saw, BAM!! it's off, knocked it out pretty easy. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
