37" two blade SD deck?

Did the later model 37" deck come with a V  belt mule drive system instead of the 6 side belt system?

YES!  Mine is a 1990 and is a “normal” v-belt.

That is exactly how I would describe the change. FWIW — I have never owned a 37” SD with a 6 sided belt drive system.

@clueless   those 37,s  are known for  rotational issues , mailley its the  sealed idler pulleys , that  incrementally hang up in motion , any related  frayed , flat spotted belt  , is telling  you of lubrication failure  .  gave one away , a 36 "  R/D  OR  S/D , deck would me much more  durable  and friendler to  drive set up . also easier to improve / change out  areas , pete
