Fewer Wheel Horses around??

Recommended Posts

pfrederi

Previewed a big consignment auction today. Several acres of stuff. Skid steers Excavators tractors by the dozens.  Lots of garden tractors ...but only two Wheel  horses.  a Charger (I think with a B&S engine transplant in the non running section and  a 312-8 with a deck that was barely in one piece.  Strange thing is the Father of the two guys running the auction had a Wheel Horse dealership.  Used to be several WHs at both the spring and fall auction, been fewer every time lately.:(

obviously through time the remaining inventory will continue to lessen as they age and are parted out, or scrapped - then add in the volume or tractors people are hoarding -- so over coming years will be fewer and fewer "for sale"  -- but then there seems to be inevitabilty there will be fewer of us to have interest buying them -- let's hope they live on as great machines that appeal to future generations - we have two younger families in our family tree who have them - let's hope that loyalty continues

Our big auction is the 25th. I plan on seeing what is there. Farm and garden equipment.

I've seen a few more and passed.

I have 3 I'd give away right now.

There, fixed it for you.               :ROTF:

I have been racking my brain to remember the guy that used to travel 100's of miles and buy every Wheel Horse he could get. I met him at the WHCC show one time. I think he was from Kentucky.

I believe he is still selling parts but not shipping any. Sounds crazy.  Years ago my WH dealer friend sold him most of the WH stock he had. Long trip to Mass from KY. Leo my dealer was here in Maine at one of our Meet & Greets. He's close to 90 and still goes to work every day. Super smart on tractors, parts and the history of WH. Very successful.

Okay, I looked him up. I remember now. He started a competing forum. Looks like he got out over his skis a bit and is liquidating. Maybe we should send Kevin down.

He left the forum when we wouldn’t comply with his demands.

Hmmm, that reminds me, you guys didn't comply with my demands either!

Change the forum name to Wallfish's RedSquare with big golden arch on the header!

Make that happen or I'll sue ! LOL

Not many in the auctions, but a lot in the marker places ads.

I am down to 8 now and need to move a few more. Just tired of up with them.

Focus focus focus!

There’s still a few Wheel Horses up here. According to the FB Marketplace, they are mostly around Bangor or down on the coast by @JCMand @ebinmaine. It’s a mix of C- some D and the 3,4,and 500 series in repairable to parts machine condition. I’ve got 4 in various states of usability and limited space. I’m good for now. it’s enough of a challenge maintaining what I have.

Well said Bill. The same here but the $$ are going up and up for these. Even the non runners. I like to find one every year and work on it over the winter. But I think I will have to turn that into two years  Because of pricing. Just my :twocents-02cents: .

There are plenty in Northern Indiana, but I have noticed the prices have just been higher then they used to be. Any good deals are bought very quickly.

Did he pass away?  I saw on that website that the dad died and the son was selling off inventory.

I've passed on several great deals in years past because I didn't need them.  The local dealership used to get them in on trade all the time, but not any more.  I know of a 308-8 and 518H I could get cheap, but don't need.  Hopefully I'll be picking up that LSE next weekend, but it's not staying.   There's also a B-80 and Raider 12 near me that I don't want.  Not enough time these days, nor room.

WHX??

Plenty around here yet. All shapes of disrepair if anyone needs another project! Problem is they are way overpriced for what they are.
