502 brake set lever

My 502 doesn’t have a brake set lever , I just put a new brake lining on and would like to get a lever to make the brake system 100%. My parts brake down shows it as part # 4417, I found one on eBay but sells says it’s for a 605 and is a different wheel horse number. I’m finding part numbers sometime are misleading, does anyone know if a 502 and 605 share a common brake lever or where I might find one ?

Rich I have done some more digging and correct me if I’m wrong. It looks like the 605 lever sits low down near the brake drum and you push it down to lock , the 502 has a cut out in the tin and the lever points upward and you would pull it reword to lock. I could be way off as I’m finding very little information or pictures.

I believe the difference would be on the notches on the bottom. The one for the 502 would only have one notch so you would have to have your brake set just so for it work. The one for the 605 will have many notches allowing you more choices on your locking position.  As far as interchange ability, I do think that they would interchange. I'll try to get some pics showing the difference.

You're correct, the upper portion of the handle is different. Here is a pic of the one on my 855 (same as a 605 handle)

 

This is a pic of the one on my 633 (same as your 502 handle)

 

You should be able to use a lever on yours from any 1962 - 1964 model. Incase you did not know. The last number in the model number will indicate the year of the tractor from 1960 - 1967. Your 502 would be a 1962.

Achto that is exactly what I was looking for! Your 633 looks awesome just from that picture, I can only imagine what the rest looks like. Thank you I will continue my search . Living on a hill I think the parking brake is a necessity, the only flat spot I have is in my barn.

@Bbrown Just a heads up. If you put an @ before the name of the person you want to alert, (like I did with your name). They will get an automatic alert, this helps ensure that they will check your response.

@Bbrown  When you want to alert a member you need to type @ then the members name. A drop down of the members names that match will appear. Then click on the name in the drop down that you want to alert.   Try it.

@Bbrown Here's what I have Bob. Not sure if it's the right one for a 502 or not. It's got the notches on the bottom but I don't think that would matter. The IPL shows it smooth from what I can tell and the same 4417 part number for both tractors. 

It also doesn't show the offset like I pictured above and that's on the 702 flame. 'Course that doesn't mean that is right either.

 

Hopefully the guys can chime in. 

@Achto isn't the side cover missing on your 702 maybe look?

Never mind Dan it's missing on your 702. Did we take it off for some reason?  Note 702 next to we parted out has one on it. 

 

The mystery deepens ... your 702 again Dan. At this point I am at a total loss for which is correct. One style mounts to the clutch rod one mounts to the brake arm.

@WHX?? I think the one on your 702 is what I need. There’s no room on the clutch rod grunion but on the brake rod it looks like it will fit. Thank you for checking I’ll keep hunting
