Sunstrand Foot Control

Recommended Posts

Racinbob

I have posted an ad for a batch of hydro foot controls. I was just asked if they would work on a Sunstrand. As far as I know they are for Eatons only. Most of you know how the control rod hooks up to the shaft to operate an Eaton. Does anyone have a picture of where a Sunstrand would connect? Would it just take a different rod? Or :eusa-think:

Matts Foot Pedal was made for an Eaton

But he would sell it for a Sundstrand and he would buy (extra $$) some part off Ebay (maybe off an Eaton)

I'll  see if I can figure out what it was.

I made one with a clamp on the motion control rod and a pedal from a 269H along with a couple springs to get it to return on its own. Not pretty but it works really well. Its probably been close to a decade but it still goes fine.

Here, the standard parts in Matt’s Pedal Kit.

For a Sundstrand he supplied this part to convert the motion control.

Can someone confirm the vertical part is added on to a standard Eaton motion controller.

As you can see from @oliver2-44’s pictures, Matt’s kit took advantage of the existing rocker (Part #11 in this ’95 520-H IPL) by connecting his linkage in the same way that WH did with Part #52 from the column-mounted motion control lever.

Parts 7-10 and 12-17 comprise the link between the #11 rocker and the Eaton motion control lever atop the transaxle. The rocker supplies “fore and aft” motion to the link. I haven’t seen details (either in person or on an IPL) of how the rocker translates control input motion to the vertical motion that the Sunstrands require.

This is the sunstrand rocker.  I guess if you put a ball end pin in the back of the eaton rocker you could get the vertical motion you need.  I don't see it the picture oh Matts part above.  Also not sure the pivot points are in the same location.

That vertical part is standard.   There is a hole on the rear right corner where you can add a ball stud.
