That would make a nice mount if no one beat you to it.

I have mixed feelings about taking these special animals.   But if I pass, someone else won't.

I have mounted one that was killed illegally  about 20 years ago.  The poacher was arrested and the piebald button buck was held as evidence till the trial was over.

After having this mount for 15+ years, I have donated it to Rocky Gap State Park where it is on display at the Park Entrance.     This is where the deer was killed in the campground no hunting zone.

Stocked the trout for the annual fishing derby for the ATOMIC KIDS.   This is a private event sponsored by the Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Plant for employees children.

We put 1,000 12 to 20 inch trout in a 1/4 mile section of the North branch of Muddy Creek in Felton.

                         Fish catching pics tomorrow.

Probably almost as exciting for the kids as fishing day tomorrow!

That does look good.  Luv those big onion chunks.    I like to put half potatoes and half parsnips in mine.

Pa elk hunters be aware the PGC has changed the elk management areas.    Study the new areas before buying your elk application.

It's been a really bad year for road kills.   Within a half mile of my house five deer have been killed in the past three weeks.   Three fawns , a doe, and last week one of the 8 point bucks that has been regularly  appearing on my trail cams.     The corporate farmer that leases most of the farmland around me rotates corn and soy beans. This is the year that everything is on corn which limits the visibility and increases the accidents.   The super bright Buck Moon last week probably also increased the nighttime activity.

I haven't seen the piebald buck for a month, so I hope he has not been hit.     :(

Mrs Sylvan hit a fawn driving my car a week ago... luckily only lost the front logo and popped a fog light bracket... logo fixed. May leave the fog light as is because you basically need to remove the front end to access it... :angry-tappingfoot:

 No other damage.

Mrs Sylvan helped me put the door back on the deer blind and clear out brush from the shooting alleys in preparation for early doe September 12-13... door blew off in a windstorm over the winter.

@Pullstart I wore my best t-shirt...

Ready for the season!!!

Wait till you get to be my age... oh wait...

Actually a friend's property. His blind (one of seven) that he graciously lets me use... I have no problem maintaining it and trimming for him... I'm very fortunate! :handgestures-thumbupright:

But I have suggested indoor plumbing, electric, heat, small refrigerator, but for some reason those haven't materialized yet... :hide:

I could only hope they would walk into my barn and hop into the freezer.

My neighbors won't allow me to hunt :angry-tappingfoot:

We live in deer heaven. Plenty to eat, nice places to bed down, a low speed limit for predators (vehicles), and no hunting.

Pendot reports 11,600 deer/auto accidents in 2025.     While one auto insurance co. alone reports around 150,000 deer related accident claims per year in Pa.

Much the same in Michigan, and yet our idiot legislature and governor just signed "ok to feed" law for deer... can't make this stuff up... :angry-tappingfoot:

"ok to feed" law for deer.

It is still unlawful to feed any wild game animal ( deer, bear, elk, turkey) in Pa.     The main reason is the increased spread of disease  when the animals are in close contact at a feeding station.       The one exception is baiting of deer is legal in well defined metro hunting areas where the numbers need to be safely reduced.
