@953 nut   used to regularly  go to  JONES BEACH  in ny  , spend the entire day there  , the house band was the  guy lombardo  , royal Canadians , had a  huge  clam like  theatre  built on the beach , so you were looking at it  from the sand , this was in the 50,s , entire family my mom / dad  3 sisters , and adoptive   baby  my  mother , always took in , did that for  27 years , 2 babies a year  , wk to 10 days old , kept for 6  months  , turned in , got another  , thats 54  babies , my mother  taught us all how to  love a baby . never forget that  , to this day, cannot resist  a baby's innocence , magic . catholic Charites , hand it over to a nun , get another one . post WW2 . military surplus  was everywhere , open lots , vfw posts , my father  , did part time watchman at  city island yacht club , they built PT BOATS  there, always had a few on hand , loved to watch them  head oy to long island , for parts , trials , big packard power , get that  PT up on plane , make your hair stand up , talk about cutting a wake , been there , pete
