Pics of front tire chains

Those do tend to scuff up a sealed asphalt driveway... How about fluid filled front tires & front wheel weights instead as an alternative?

Also noticed the rear weights are actually 75 pounders.

Been using them for several years only fell off twice...let the tire get too soft.

I've got double #50 on mine. I had it on hand. 520H with a 2 stage blower.

Not as aggressive as chains, but I get along pretty well with tri-ribs and front weights on blacktop.

The ABSOLUTE last thing I worry about is a few winter time scuff scratch marks on the driveway when I'm out there freezing the gonads off doing snow removal. Especially this year with the extreme low temps. ALL of those marks are gone by March anyway if you don't dig the chains in and no one would ever know the difference either way. 

I even run V bar chains on the rear tires too on asphalt. They don't spin on the ice so they don't dig in any long lasting marks either. The asphalt is hard when it's frozen.  Pay attention to what's happening and there shouldn't be an issue. Don't drag turned fronts with roller chains on them and don't excessively spin the rears with any type of chains and the asphalt will be fine.

I am with you on that John. We have an old drive way so no big deal. The wife wants to see black no white because of her new knees.

@wallfish napa , macks  chain / cable lube , stays with  rotational movement  , no  rusty chain , also  very good  on automotive rustproofing  ,  use a lighter  penetrant first  , highest run down spot , couple days out , notice the lower metal seaming ?  oil film ? add the macks to that  , it will track  to same areas . every time I park next to a  rotted anything , its SO PREVENTABLE , showed my grandson  how to do  this , did his entire car  , loves it when I walk him thru a  transition opportunity , we regularly  talk / exchange  ideas ,  questions , granddaughter too . always give them a big hug , grampa , pete

I'm surprised Ricks 416H  has 6" wheels.   I thought the 4XXs had 8"ers.    I switched all me 3XXs to 8" wheels.

My 416H is a 1990 model, even the paperwork shows 6" wheels.  I guess they had a surplus of small wheels.  The only reason I know of to need 6"ers is if you mounted a 37" deck. I have a 414-8 roller that has 8" wheels, but I need to check the spindles for wear.  Not warm enough yet!

Good view of the front #40 chains on the front of our Raider 10 here.  They made a significant difference in front traction.
