This tractor is retrofitted with a 25 hp Kohler Command engine with a pulse type pump mounted on the engine itself which really seems to be struggling to get fuel from the tank in the back. Once it's running it's fine, but man trying to get it started is gonna take out my starter motor. I know a low pressure pump is called for, but I'm not sure the pressure range. Willing to pay a little more for NOT a Chinese knock off (which may be asking a lot) so a manufacturer to look for would be helpful too. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Search on electric fuel pump to find those threads. Just installed a cheapy on a 520 that was a notorious hard starter. Started right up the other day at -15 out. Another one in progress. kpinnc 16,775 #3 Posted yesterday at 02:00 AM (edited) In the short term, a primer bulb will help greatly. They certainly save batteries and starters when the fuel tank is that far back. I like my electric pumps, but I keep a couple primer bulbs on hand as well. The cheaper electric pumps can croak on you at the worst possible time... Stan50 64 #7 Posted 3 hours ago I was wondering if someone using them. As of now I stacked 2 mechanical ones and I bought CarBole 2-3.5 psi, I'm waiting for delivery . I have a couple of that type in machines, one has been in service for almost a decade. I used another one to build an electric pump to drain my maxhines for off seasonal storage. I ended up giving that one to my FIL because he put gasoline in a diesel tractor. He was able to get the contaminated fuel out easily. I let him keep it so he wouldn't have to lift and pour fuel containers. he's 88 yo and refuses to stop! We should all be so lucky Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The thing I liked about these (electric) pumps is when you turn the key to run and the pump takes off you can hear, if you have decent hearing, the pump change pitch as the bowl fills and it changes pitch as the float shuts off fuel flow and the pump changes pitch building pressure. pfrederi 19,628 #12 Posted just now It has been a few years. But as I recall I was at the far end of the field when the C-141 just sputtered and died. No clicking from the pump. I agree one thing I like about electric turn the switch on listen to clicking when it changes bowl is full and it fires right up.
