How easy would this swap be? He wants the Onan off of it too. How hard would it be to swap that in? Motion control linkages for Sunstrands and Eatons are very different--you’ll need a donor tractor to get all the bits. Size differences may also become an issue as might clearances (the Eaton has an external charge pump and different routing for lift plumbing. The engine swap will likely be easier, though you’ll need the unique Onan engine mounting plate to go with the engine and do a thorough crosscheck on the wiring--sensors, safety switches & relays, etc.
Easton Rich 1,035 #52 Posted Friday at 05:04 PM Ive got the donor tractor and everything will would need. How would fitment look? Any cutting or modification needed?
Handy Don 15,994 #53 Posted Friday at 05:11 PM I’ve not done a detailed side-by-side comparison. Perhaps someone else here has. My initial instinct would be to keep the Eaton together with its original, linkage-embedded chassis/tunnel/console (and hoodstand?) and move other parts around.

The input sheave for the Eaton seems to sit a little higher than the Sundstrand, but that may not be an issue. The main issue in my mind is being sure the left pedal neutral/ brake setup can be made to work on the older subframe. It might not be an issue at all, but it's something to look at. None of my Sundstrands have a brake so I have no reference.
Easton Rich 1,035 #55 Posted Friday at 05:23 PM Another option is 8spd. How would that go? Regardless he wants the Onan.

Only have to figure out the brake linkage and then make sure there is clearance/alignment for the shift levers and dipstick.

Not as bad a job as you might think. @19richie66 did a thread about widening the Eaton to replace the Sundstrand on a GT-14. If you disregard the axle change out to accomplish the widening it is a rather easy job. Very few changes to the tunnel need to be made for the this swap and Richie has documented it well. 1
c-series don 11,461 #58 Posted Saturday at 01:55 AM I saw your C-175 pictures and I thought it looked similar to mine! I restored this one 2-3 years ago. IMG_9389.mov

19richie66 17,816 #60 Posted Sunday at 04:16 PM Hopefully soon I will be putting an Eaton1100 in a Bronco14. The linkage is different but not bad. I have it ready to go. Just need to find the time.

sqrlgtr 2,201 #63 Posted 17 hours ago Been following along, this is what I had in mind when I traded for a 520h a little bit ago. Thought I wanted to swap trans and onan to a 73 14hp Hydro no name but the more I fool with the 520 might just try and restore it to at least a great worker status .
Easton Rich 1,035 #64 Posted 16 hours ago Yeah, mine is no good except for the steering, engine, and tranny. I'm regretting selling my good 520, but can't keep everything.

Not the end of the world to swap the 14hp Kohler into the 520 chassis if the Onan is toasted.

Actually, was thinking about swapping the swept front, Onan and Eaton to the 74 chassis. The 520 is a more solid mochine than I thought when I got it home though.
