He wants the Onan off of it too. How hard would it be to swap that in? Motion control linkages for Sunstrands and Eatons are very different--you’ll need a donor tractor to get all the bits. Size differences may also become an issue as might clearances (the Eaton has an external charge pump and different routing for lift plumbing. The engine swap will likely be easier, though you’ll need the unique Onan engine mounting plate to go with the engine and do a thorough crosscheck on the wiring--sensors, safety switches & relays, etc.
Easton Rich 1,011 #52 Posted 12 hours ago Ive got the donor tractor and everything will would need. How would fitment look? Any cutting or modification needed?
Handy Don 15,988 #53 Posted 12 hours ago I’ve not done a detailed side-by-side comparison. Perhaps someone else here has. My initial instinct would be to keep the Eaton together with its original, linkage-embedded chassis/tunnel/console (and hoodstand?) and move other parts around.

The input sheave for the Eaton seems to sit a little higher than the Sundstrand, but that may not be an issue. The main issue in my mind is being sure the left pedal neutral/ brake setup can be made to work on the older subframe. It might not be an issue at all, but it's something to look at. None of my Sundstrands have a brake so I have no reference.
Easton Rich 1,011 #55 Posted 12 hours ago Another option is 8spd. How would that go? Regardless he wants the Onan.

Only have to figure out the brake linkage and then make sure there is clearance/alignment for the shift levers and dipstick.

Not as bad a job as you might think. @19richie66 did a thread about widening the Eaton to replace the Sundstrand on a GT-14. If you disregard the axle change out to accomplish the widening it is a rather easy job. Very few changes to the tunnel need to be made for the this swap and Richie has documented it well. c-series don 11,449 #58 Posted 3 hours ago I saw your C-175 pictures and I thought it looked similar to mine! I restored this one 2-3 years ago. IMG_9389.mov
