CD Long Jr 22 #1 Posted 4 hours ago As some are aware, I'm new. I got my hands on a what the seller said was a 1992 312-8, with deck & front blade. Serial number says she's a 1988. She's not running. Needs ignition module, battery & Ignition switch key. I intend to roll her off the trailer, remove the deck & grease her. I have no idea when she last ran. What should I do, other than check the air filter & change the engine oil, before tryin' to start her. Anything with the carb & fuel tank? Anything with the oil in the rear? You'll want to make sure the fuel system is clean and that any old gas has been removed. @ebinmaine can you through that new to me check list up? 1
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,886 #4 Posted 2 hours ago 1988 312-8 model 21-12K805 would have a 5 digit serial number. What we have recorded range from serial 27067-32459. Wheel Horse never published serial numbers and Toro started in 1991. 1992 312-8 model 31-12K804 would have a 7 digit serial number ranging from 2000001-2099999. If the decal also has a 4-digit number stamped on it and often faded it is the Julian build date. A 1xxx number would be a 1992 model made in late 1991 and a 2xxx would be made in 1992
John2189 559 #5 Posted 1 hour ago I would remove the engine shroud to be sure that there are no mice nests
