More for safekeeping than anything. If it goes out to the magic parts shed it might be lost forever. Kinda like that battery tray I know is out there. I'm sure there are pics here that show the correct set up. Edited January 8 by WHX?? 1 1

I try and keep um also like @WHX?? says may get lost in the majical spare parts storage. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Like Jim said I like to put them back on if for nothing else so is they don't get lost. They do not interfere with operation or for loading to go to a show. A few pic's to help explain where it goes. Basically the same set up on the square hoods like yours. Edited January 8 by Achto 1

That might get eliminated or changed some, I don't think I'll have a PTO attachment on this tractor. A couple of images augmenting @kpinnc’s response... The pedal with its spring puts tension on the belt to engage the implement; the lock latch holds it disengaged. I have only the mower deck but I believe it also handled others--tiller, sickle bar, etc. Similar to the drive belt, the PTO belt needs a close-aligned guide to slow/stop the belt when it is disengaged. I hadn’t learned that yet when these pictures were taken! Edited January 8 by Handy Don

Can someone point me in the right direction? If you decide against using the pedal, I'd take it off your hands. The PO of my 701 snapped it right off somehow.

855project 49 #35 Posted January 10 I'll get mine off and take some pics of it, I'd part with it although a foot throttle does sound kinda cool.
855project 49 #36 Posted yesterday at 04:31 AM Not too much interesting to report, but the tractor is torn all the way down and cycling parts through the dip tank and getting primer on them, starting to have more parts cleaned and primed than dirty so that's good, made a good order from Wheelhorseparts, a bunch of odds and ends that I'll need to put things together so I'm excited to get that in the mail. The engine ran really well so I don't plan on tearing that down although I have taken the shields off to get ready for paint and clean the whole thing up. I plan on just cleaning everything well and painting the block and the shields and putting back together.

Might just want to pop the head and check things out that's not a hugh chore. Check for oil wash and de-carbon. Examine the bore & valve seats. Even if you don't tear into it gives you an idea of what's going on in there.

Don't know if it's correct for a 701 or not. Think it was on a 753. Has a tlt on the side I don't see in Dan's pic Edited 8 hours ago by WHX??

855project 49 #40 Posted 6 hours ago I forgot to say that I got my right pedal off but it's missing the pulley that goes with it so I don't know if it's much good for anyone but if someone wanted it and paid the shipping I'd send it off.
Achto 30,508 #41 Posted 5 hours ago (edited) I agree with pulling the head to see what's what. I pulled the head on a non-smoking engine on this years resto. Found that it had a fair amount of piston wash & you could use the cylinder as a mirror to shave with. Piston should have a black coating most all the way across. Was an unplanned rebuild but I will feel better when it's done. Edited 5 hours ago by Achto 1

I would have been tempted to run it 855 but his royal analness is just going to hone it and put new rings in. Not a bad move I guess. Yah EB a guy can glass it as long as it's off. 57 minutes ago, 855project said: missing the pulley that goes with it The pullies I have a ton of. Its the same one that's in the clutch. If you ain't gonna run a PTO maybe KP would want the pedal then. I should put mine back on the tractor it belongs with.
