Sparky-(Admin) 23,909 #1 Posted yesterday at 04:59 PM The starter/generator on my 857 starts and charges well…but it’s noisy. It’s model #1101973. I’m looking for a rebuild kit. Amazon has what I think is the exact same kit that I Save Tractors was selling (some picture and same write up) for $43. The number on mine isn’t on the list that the Amazon ad shows, it lists off many numbers and then says “and many more”. Am I one of the many more? Does Yours have two oil cups on it?? My 854 does - 2 bearings. Check on Fleabay - search under Delco Remy Starter Generator. There is an Electric Shop that sells kits... good feedback rating. squonk 44,787 #9 Posted 23 hours ago The Genny's are pretty much all the same. Use the same bearings or maybe one end has the bushing. 90% of Delco genny use the same R430 brushes. When I first set up the 854, I tried not to over tighten the S/G belt. Then I watched it slip on the first crank as it hit the compression stroke (this is a spark-retard K181, so no help on compression). So much for being “gentle."
