DBlackston 323 #1 Posted Tuesday at 12:40 AM Does anyone have a template or dimensions for one of these? They don't seem like they would be terrible to make, but I would like to make one as original as possible. I may be missing some intricacies though that make it harder to make than I imagine.I've never seen one in person before. I can't bring myself to pay $100+ for a rotten piece of plywood stuck on a rusty piece of steel with a few holes in it! Pictures borrowed from Google. Racinbob 12,299 #2 Posted Tuesday at 09:35 AM Thanks to @WHX?? I managed a frame for one. It needed to be recovered and I decided to replace the plywood as well. I traced the old back onto a new piece of 9-ply then wet it down and let it sit a few days weighted in the middle to give it the slight curve. Add a coule blind nuts for the bolts. My wife picked up a piece of foam and some red vinyl and did the cover. Since she doesn't have whatever it takes to do the white thing around the edge she simple stapled it on the backside. I cleaned it up with another piece of 1/8" ply. I can get the dimensions later today.

Yeah, they are nice, but just how nice do you really need for a seasonal accessory? I thought about cobbling one up for my 854, but it would just make it way too difficult for getting on & off what is now easy with the 36" deck ... nope. Pullstart 68,407 #4 Posted Tuesday at 02:14 PM @DBlackston you are aware these are also spring steel? Anything else would likely fatigue and leave you in the furrow some day.

Very true but it's mounted on my 854 which wears the sickle mower year round. I have to sorta thread my leg between the bar and tractor and under the bar support so it really isn't a hinderance. Definitely worth it when I spend several hours doing the paths. Edited Tuesday at 04:21 PM by Racinbob
