Vintage Singer

Landfill score, someone had discarded the cast iron frame from a Singer sewing machine. Brought it home then cut the trade mark logo from the casting.

Gave one to a buddy his wife wants him to clean up the rough edges, she wants to use it in the kitchen to set a hot pot onto. I'm going to steal her idea, clean it up then gift it to a girl friend.

I like a beeswax finish on cast iron. Get the iron  cherry red, rub with bee's wax, the iron will suck the wax into the pores to seal it. Leaves a nice semi gloss finish that is fairly durable.

I good demo of natural finishes.
