TonyToro Jr. 2,312 #1 Posted September 7, 2025 (edited) I am taking the old engine from my Raider 12. It doesn’t have a coil and some sort of voltage regulator under the dash. The ignition switch only had 3 posts too and no solenoid. The new engine I got has a coil, and solenoid. And 2 wires coming from the alternator. What type of voltage regulator/rectifier is needed so it will charge? And guidance and help is appreciated. Thank you. pfrederi 19,797 #2 Posted September 7, 2025 What does the regulator under the dash look like? You may just need a new ignition switch.

pfrederi 19,797 #4 Posted September 7, 2025 Take the two wires coming from your alternator and hook them up to the two outer wires on this regulator see if it works. I imagine your ignition switch was one of the heavy duty ones used back then One heavy wire to Battery one to the starter motor and a small wire to the coil. For testing you could just take the center wire from your regulator to the battery positive see if it charges
953 nut 63,984 #5 Posted September 7, 2025 Buy a 103990 ignition switch and follow this diagram and you should have everything you need.
TonyToro Jr. 2,312 #6 Posted September 8, 2025 (edited) So we have it running! It has the 103990 ignition switch. But still not sure how to hook up the charging system. EDIT- @953 nut Looked at your diagram again and I see what you’re saying. 2 wires from the stator go the the 2 outside posts. And the one in the middle go to the ignition switch. Got it!
