953 nut 60,348 #1 Posted August 12 National Vinyl Record Day on August 12 is your chance to go old school. Spin music lovers all around the world have disagreements on a number of things, but one thing we think everyone can agree on is that vinyl records are here to stay. For those who value the quality of sound, owning physical copies of your favorite albums, or simply the nostalgia factor, it’s probably safe to assume you’ve got your own collection of vinyl records stashed away somewhere. So now’s your time to dust off the old needle and let the music take you away on a cloud of good, good, good, vibrations.
peter lena 9,309 #2 Posted August 12 @953 nut since turning over most of my old vinyl to my grandkids , was amazing to watch the responses , of music , back in the day , to them , always adding in my own thought to a particular section . almost explaining what you sense , they love that , then add their own areas . they love the back and forth of detailing an issue , always emphasizing no sarcasm , or attack , but what you sense and feel . to us , the exchange with them is a magical thing . very often they ask , what did you do ? in that spot / time era ? think that was the , path to very regular talk with them , they sense and feel your reply , love being grandparent , pete 1
8ntruck 7,877 #3 Posted August 12 Some 20+ years ago, my then teenage kids had a group of friends over to our house. One of those kids spotted my old school component stereo system and the 4 foot or so LP vinyl collection. He asked me how the system worked. I plugged in the headphones and showed him how to play a record in the turntable. He was amazed. Spent quite a while exploring my record collection. 1 1

Beap52 1,481 #5 Posted August 12 Before we retired as missionaries, We were expected to do our little dog and pony show talking about what we did and what it was like to live oversea. Often times to children groups. We still used a slide projector and the kids were amazed at how it worked. Little hands always were raised in the air when I'd ask for a volunteer to help with pushing the button advancing the slides. 2
