Of course at that point I would go ahead and remove and clean the carb components. Plently of videos on YouTube for that. @ebinmaine beat me to it. And yeah, I'm talking about the carb bowl. This is my 856 directly under carb glass sediment bowl.. bottom screw wet to touch with fuel.. even without turning it.. will have to wait till I get a replacement gasket for it to open it to drain and clean bowl.

I believe this bowl should be aluminum. Not glass. But there could be a separate glass bowl elsewhere. 🥣

And it's not really the sediment bowl. The glass sediment bowl is up under the tank. If it has anything really at all in it check inside the tank to make sure the tank outlet isn't plugged. The sediment bowl will not be empty if the tank outlet plugs up and stops fuel flow to the carb.

That aluminum bowl has two purposes: One is to separate water and trash from the fuel before entering the carburetor. The second is to provide a sump for the float to actuate the fuel shut off. The aluminum bowl on some Techumseh engines are the one and only thing better than a Kohler: the have an exterior dump valve. I always wondered why Kohler never added that feature. The Kohler manual just calls it a "bowl", and I understand that. I am just trying to understand your comment. Again, I don't not mean to seem like I'm calling you out.
