Of course at that point I would go ahead and remove and clean the carb components. Plently of videos on YouTube for that. @ebinmaine beat me to it. And yeah, I'm talking about the carb bowl. This is my 856 directly under carb glass sediment bowl.. bottom screw wet to touch with fuel.. even without turning it.. will have to wait till I get a replacement gasket for it to open it to drain and clean bowl.

I believe this bowl should be aluminum. Not glass. But there could be a separate glass bowl elsewhere. 🥣

And it's not really the sediment bowl. The glass sediment bowl is up under the tank. If it has anything really at all in it check inside the tank to make sure the tank outlet isn't plugged. The sediment bowl will not be empty if the tank outlet plugs up and stops fuel flow to the carb.

That aluminum bowl has two purposes: One is to separate water and trash from the fuel before entering the carburetor. The second is to provide a sump for the float to actuate the fuel shut off. The aluminum bowl on some Techumseh engines are the one and only thing better than a Kohler: the have an exterior dump valve. I always wondered why Kohler never added that feature. The Kohler manual just calls it a "bowl", and I understand that. I am just trying to understand your comment. Again, I don't not mean to seem like I'm calling you out. No need to apologize to seeking knowledge. I wouldn't consider the bowl on this carb to be a "sediment bowl" for two reasons. 1) I've never found any in it, and I've run mine for years with a very nasty, crusty fuel tank. 2) There is a more proper on upstream at the outlet of the tank that actually collects a lot of crap. At the end of the day a true "sediment bowl" is somewhere that debris is supposed to collect and, for the most part, stay, until you clean it. In my experience any debris that winds up in the float bowl of a Kholer will eventually make its way into the jet.
FLtractor 62 #33 Posted August 3 What HP fuel pump did these 856 come with Orginally? Can’t re locate the digital owners manual I once read. If my current fuel pump has had ethanol fuel tan through it for who knows how on.. do I need to replace it along with the fuel lines and fuel filter before start fueling non ethanol? ebinmaine 74,182 #34 Posted August 3 If your current fuel pump is working ok AND not leaking I wouldn't be concerned. The original metal pumps can be rebuilt.

This one on my tractor is a black plastic located under the carb.. just wondering what should be the proper HP it should be so it’s not damaging O rings or other parts due to excessive pressure
pfrederi 18,870 #36 Posted August 3 The black plastic pumps either OE or knockoff are not going to generate excessive pressure.
