I see that you have fuel filters after the fuel pump. It would make sense for you to have them before? So that you know filtered fuel is going thru it or is that a no no?

Filter should be BEFORE the pump.

Some of the better pumps come with a filter on the pump inlet.

You can if you want but keep the trash out of the pump. Doesn't take much to lock up a pump. I had a tiny piece of a valve stem seal lock up an oil pump on a Dodge 318 once.

@kpinnc also have my electric pumps up front  with no issues , often refer to fuel hose , breakdown / debris issues , when ever I encounter a CHRONIC / REPEDITIVE  PROBLEM ,  i make a change ? you know what  does not work . since going over to STABIL , fuel storage additive , and new hoses throughout , my filters are always clean, clear , that alone was worth the experiment  !  always top of my tanks  with an ounce or two , of stabil . fuel bowls  are clean / clear , instant starts , also have fuel hose vertical check valves  before the carb , so you can see  fuel held to carb , regularly keep in touch  with everything , and touch up accordingly . if your  fuel hoses are breaking down , you have to replace ALL OF THEM  , and try something different . realise this  is a bone of contention , clean / clear fuel filters   , pete
