1968Commando 163 #1 Posted July 3 Noticed oil puddle under tractor and noticed it was dripping from the fan blower shield took it off and found this does this mean my flywheel must come off and I have to fix this seal, this seal is literally 2 months old so I must of messed it up somehow it didn’t start leaking till it got a few hours on it
squonk 43,736 #2 Posted July 3 Did you have the front bearing plate off. Plate gasket could be the source. I made the mistake of somehow putting the gasket on backwards once. Leaks showed up after a couple of days.

squonk 43,736 #4 Posted July 3 Yank the flywheel and see. if the seal is dry it ain't it. Another thing. The oil pan gasket can be put on backwards and drip out the flywheel side.

squonk 43,736 #9 Posted July 3 Try to look down the edge of the oil pan to block mating area. See if you can see the gasket sticking out a lot and almost touching your bearing plate. If so that's your leak. Same as I had. Easy to do it.

Well shoot it is….so does that mean I have to take the motor off, and the oil pan and do this crap again and all that work…..please tell me there’s an easier way I just painted and wired this thing
squonk 43,736 #11 Posted July 3 Easiest way is to yank the engine and replace that gasket and make sure it's lined up the correct way. Biggest issue for me was getting those bottom bolts back in on that heavy generator
