Eagle Manufacturing Type I Safety Can

This thing is a terrible design. The funnel is located around the neck underneath the spring loaded cap. Trying to pour gas into anything, without spilling where the funnel attaches to the neck, is almost impossible. You can not attach a nozzle, like it should have been design, due to no threads on the neck, the spring loaded cap, etc. If anyone here is in the market for a good metal gas can, this ain't it.

Agreed. I've looked at those in the past and decided not to get one.

 

I have several plastic cans and one metal one that I got at an estate auction. Old style. Screw on caps. I don't pour gas back out of it. I use a small handheld electric fuel pump instead.

I have a battery operated hand held siphoning pump that I could use.  i took the funnel off, it just gets in the way and makes it harder to pour without spilling.

Yeah that's what I use.

PITA if I don't remember where I left it but it's worth going to find it. Neat and clean and very little spillage.

Also much much easier to handle because it's so lightweight in comparison to holding 5 gallons of gasoline above an engine.

You actually think I didn't think of that?!!!  Makes no difference.  I used a funnel and still have spilling.  If you have ever used one, you would know why.

They're only describable in a language not suitable for Redsquare.

Great idea, the funnel is rinsed clean of spiders and dust during every use.

I would watch the garage sales and what not for the old style cans but never had any luck. Over the years I've tried about every 'new' can on the market and never found one. Even a 'racing fuel only' can I found.  Then I found a new jerry style can with the metal flex spout I wanted. 

 

I put the flip vents in all my cans and did so on the jerry. I tried it out and proceeded to cover my shoe with gas. I hadn't noticed the air vent in the spout. I probably made it worse because with the vent I added air was no longer being sucked into the factory vent and it was allowed to pour gas out. Some JB weld and a piece of sheetmetal entered the picture and this is now my go to can. Zero leaks and a spout I can bend to fit the needs. My other cans are now for transport home from the booze free station a couple times a year.

I bought three old safety cans for $15 at a yard sale ten years ago.  I still use this one.  I saw they were about $55 to $70 now but they have the new controls!  Not convenient to use!

The narrow Jerry cans, I think, would tend to tip over in the bed of your truck unless somehow supported.  The thing I do like about the Eagle can is it wide, round base, no tipping.

Yup. But that one doesn't go with me. When these 4 are empty is means I'm down to 10 gallons and it's time to go to the no booze station to stock back up. Nestled like this they can't tip.

It's RollBAK G2 made by Bak Industries. I've had it about 14 years and I don't think they make them anymore.

Mine is similar, Retrax MX and they still make those, not inexpensive but a great cover.

Probably a mouse then.  Why they decided to finally munch on it now after years and years ignoring it is a mystery.  There really is nothing they won’t (eventually) destroy.
