JimSraj 505 #1 Posted June 9 I’d like to get bigger gauge wheels for my mowing deck so I can mow at a higher level. Pretty sure I saw some posts in the past that mentioned bigger diameter gauge wheels that someone got for the same purpose. Hoping to get them with grease fittings. Can anyone tell me what they used? clueless 3,179 #2 Posted Monday at 12:37 PM The problem with larger gauge wheel is you still have to adjust the deck the way WH says its suppose to be. That means even if you put 1" or 2" taller wheels you only going to get maybe 1/4 to a 1/2 inch higher quality cut. These deck were designed to cut up to 3 to 3.5 inches high, any higher the cut starts to deteriorate, that doesn't you can't mess with it and get a higher cut but you but your messing with geometry of the deck. Kind of like putting a lift kit on you truck, if you don't change everything that needs to be changed your messing with the geometry of the design, not necessarily a good thing. Give it a try you may get what your looking for.
lynnmor 7,698 #3 Posted Monday at 02:21 PM Going 1" larger shouldn't be a problem. Before you do that, level the deck with no downward slope to the front, unlike what you see on most Wheel Horse tractors.
peter lena 9,184 #4 Posted Monday at 05:09 PM @JimSraj @lynnmor we all have a different lawn set up , fully agree with the no front end slope , also prefer to cut at highest setting for better discharge and zero build up , experiment to your liking , done a lot of detail tweaking , also enhanced / improved pulley drive , spin up ease , and under side oil deck, sun baking , that alone has stopped any build up . pto engagement is ridiculous , in its quiet ease . deck spindles move easily , by hand at PTO DRIVE BELT TO MUEL DRIVE , cutting down on rotational spindle drive / mule drive , drag , really enhances your cutting ease .anything related to its function , has been detailed . pete
pfrederi 18,547 #5 Posted Monday at 05:30 PM (edited) Been running these for 3 years now. No problem getting the deck adjusted for slight down at the front. Price has almost doubled since I bought two sets... surprise surprise Edited Monday at 05:34 PM by pfrederi

This deck cuts beautifully since I corrected the deck/spindle angle that had developed. (See my previous post on bent deck. ) I just want to be able to raise the level of the cut closer to 4”.
