Beap52 1,382 #3 Posted May 24 Amazing to me how the price of gas varies from place to place. For some reason our town (10 gas stations) is usually the highest priced. Currently 87 e-gas is $2.89. Drive west 8 miles to a one gas station town and it's $2.79. Head east 18 miles to a 3 or 4 gas station town it's $2.69. Head south to Springfield MO fuel can be as cheap $2.44. I don't think it's taxes that vary that much. At least it's only 1 1/2 miles to ethanol free 91. I'm thinking it's 3.36 per gallon. 3
squonk 43,689 #4 Posted May 24 Cam 2 Reminds me of this old lady who bought a brand new Monte Carlo SS every year from 85-89 where I worked. She would bring a car into the service lane to make her appointment. Then do a burnout when she left. Store owner would come out and say I know what burned rubber smells like but what else do I smell?

When I was in college there were two Sheetz stations, one right by the entrance to campus, the other across town near where I worked along the main retail strip. Always at least a 10 cent difference. I asked the manager at the cheaper on once what was up with that and she told me she had no idea, that corporate just told them where to set the prices and the stores had to say.
wallfish 18,033 #6 Posted May 25 I should of just drove up there yesterday too but adding the 45 minutes to the ride was a no go for the wife. Then, she says "Just go" (with big sour puss on her face) so now it would be my fault we didn't go because "I" decided not to go! LOL It was one of those loose loose situations. 2
c-series don 9,956 #7 Posted May 25 @wallfish It’s one of those damned if you do and damned if you don’t situations. Myself, like many others that have been married for a long time are all too familiar with this kind of thing 😂 2
Brockport Bill 1,924 #8 Posted May 25 reagarding varying gas prices noted in the thread "across town" ----------------- I do not know if this is true??? However, i was once told their are actually distribution "districts" from "distributors" or the company????? Therefore, the prices vary by some arbitrary geography of the "district boundry" - - again, i can not confrm but if true then the "line" had to be drawn -- so if true, then perhaps a short distance away the price could vary if in another "district " ???? if any RSq member is familar with this "district" concept it would be interesting to know ?????? ClassicTractorProfessor 5,370 #9 Posted May 27 Ouch. Our ethanol free gas here is $3.19/gallon. I run it in everything, both pickups, tractors, boats. If it was that high I might have to reconsider running it in the trucks
