Just about or just under to retract. 18 minutes ago, 8ntruck said: I found a website that gives more clues on your pump. For definite identification, you need the numbers stamped into the tag on the pump. Seems that John S Barnes got new ownership in 1997. The new company is Haldex Barnes Hydraulic. That website is Topkitparts. Excellent. Thanks. I'll see what's on the pump.
Handy Don 14,129 #77 Posted May 7 Noting a couple of the early posts about tractor-mounted screw splitters, I saw this at last weekend’s Zagray Farm show. Belt input to a couple of chain sprocket reductions under the covers. The ramps behind the screw are to force the log apart and the vertical pipe is to prevent it from spinning--according to the seller who said it was last used on a Wheel Horse (color me skeptical--he could see I was riding a Wheel Horse 😁). 1 1

Good thing I didn't see that. I probably would have bought it just to try it out.

We would need to replace the entire system except the hydraulic cylinder. Engine, pump, brackets, valve, hoses, couplings etc... everything. To really make a legitimate change we'd have to spend a thousand dollars or so. If ONLY to increase cycle times that isn't gonna happen... However - Trina and I have agreed that ANY breakdown at this point would justify an upgrade. To repair a system that's already slow is penny wise and dollar foolish. Surplus Center stocks all the parts we'd need.
lynnmor 7,858 #81 Posted 13 hours ago I have a Speeco 28 ton splitter, the current models have a cycle time of 12 seconds and that is the fastest model they make. I haven't timed my older model but it has a reasonable speed. It is always a balance between speed and pressure.
