Well, I've seen it all now!

I seen a peanut stand, I seen a rubber band.

I seen a house fly, I seen a horse fly.

But I done bout seen, most a evathing,

When I see a bunch of guys in an iron foundry, casting lathe beds, wearing flip flops or saying to hell with footwear, I'll do it bare foot!

WHX??

I don't know if you FB Mick but they have these short vids called reels of what I can only assume as third world places where workers are doing dangerous tasks. Pouring molten steel, blowing glass & machining often with make shift equipment.   You guessed it... in bare feet  with no other PPE. :huhs:

I’ve got a buddy who is addicted to watching these.  He thinks it’s so crazy that no PPE is ever used, but we have cities dedicated to safety enforcement like OSHA, Wisconsin!

When we lived in the Philippines twenty years ago, there were automotive battery rebuilding shops.  Usually a small building along side a road where men would pry the tops off of batteries pour the contents on the ground or the ditches along the side of the road. They would then replace the plates and put the batteries back in service. The ground around these shops had to have been poisoned and was always bare.  I often wondered how long these guys lived.  Tee shirts, shorts and flip flops was the norm of clothing.

I'm gonna put a nasty pic on here fellas. Only to make a point: other than a back injury, a dang toe nail is about the most sensitive injury I can imagine. I told my wife that childbirth was nothing compared to my poor toe. I was lucky she didn't stomp on my foot!

I was running with my kids whilst wearing a pair of crocs. Just stubbed my toe, and the nail was so messed up that it had to be removed.

Took about a year to grow back. No shoes for over 2 months!

My point was you'd better protect your feet. It think it would have healed faster with less pain if they had removed the whole toe!
