Easton Rich 1,048 #302 Posted March 7 Maybe find a freeze plug or pipe plug that size?

From what I have read people just fill it up with some silicone but I just can't make myself do that. I would rather just leave the shafts in place. I will mess with it a bit more see if I can get them out like @Achto said.

The last two I tried- first went in easily, second stopped about half way and I wasn't willing to really hit it hard enough to go further. I just cut it off and ground it down. Best bet is to cut the pin in half and drive the tapered end in flush. Edited March 8 by kpinnc 1 1

I've done it. 1 hour ago, kpinnc said: I just cut it off and ground it down. Also had this exact issue. 2 hours ago, AlexR said: From what I have read people just fill it up with some silicone but I just can't make myself do that. On an engine with no oil pressure it would probably be fine.... and I wouldn't do that either. The stub of the shaft or as @Easton Rich said, a freeze/welch plug.
Achto 31,155 #307 Posted March 8 (edited) 16 hours ago, AlexR said: From what I have read people just fill it up with some silicone I would drive in a 1/2 freeze plug / expansion plug. That would be a permanent fix. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/dorman-pik-a-nut-steel-cup-expansion-plug-1-2-in-height-0380-3626051/3492125-P? oliver2-44 11,273 #308 Posted March 8 Just split the gears with a cold chisel and you don’t have to worry about messing with the shafts Easy Peary.
AlexR 2,665 #309 Posted March 8 She's a roller now, I got the next two days that will be really good for painting so I should get the rest of the parts painted, besides the engine block. 1

Pullstart 68,998 #313 Posted March 8 I drove the pin out, then drove it back in. 1
AlexR 2,665 #315 Posted 2 hours ago I got that other balance gear out, I don't doubt you got yours out @Achto but there was no way I was going to get mine out without pulling the crankshaft or what I ended up doing like @Pullstart did and drove that pin out. I decided not to precut that pin I will just cut it flush with how far in I was able to drive it. Installed new crank seals and got it cleaned up as much as I could inside, it's very cold and windy outside today. I'm also pretty positive this is was a replacement engine because there is gray paint that wasn't ever painted over and the only red paint on it is that same chalky paint that I stripped off the rest of the tractor. 3
