32r lawn ranger throttle/ govner spring problems

I was got it all hooked up and pulled the throttle out and the spring stretched and the govner and throttle did not move at all I got pics, is that spring warn out, it was sitting fully open for most likely 20+ years any help is appriacted- thanks, keaton

Are all of the linkages between the spying and throttle shaft free to rotate?

yup and I put pennatrating oil on them to help move freely, the govner feels a little resistant it moves with a bit of resistance , I am guessing that Is normal this is my first time taking the govern compoinents all off

anyone else got any ideas on this I don't know what to do, I have tooked back through the pictures I have taken and it is all togher the right way. so I am not Shure if I need a new spring or what I would need.

Try removing the throttle cable, and manually operate the throttle shaft.  The governor should fight you as it revs up.

@Pullstart I still don't have it running yet I am waiting on a recoil spring I was just getting it back togher and hooking it up

Oh, ok.  The governor will only be felt when the engine is running.  There is a way to set it, but not a way to verify it without spinning.

but without the govver moving the engine will only stay at idle, because how their setup, I might need a spring to go there but I am not Shure but thanks for the advice

What engine is that? Read the engine manual on how to properly set the governor. Don't guess at it. You need the governor to work correctly or you risk over revving the engine.

I don't ever normally run my engines at full throttle cause I'm not pulling mutch, and it is a tecumpseh 5.5hp engine
