At DuPont I spent a lot of my time working in a full acid suit hooked up to breathing air.

Hands were numb from the cold all winter with the double layers of rubber gloves and you were a total ball of sweat all summer.

There was an old steam fitter that I knew from when I worked at Charlotte Mecklenburg School Maintenance Department…

for 40 years or better he carried a 6 inch or so adjustable wrench around in his coveralls pocket. Carrying that wrench around in his pocket for all those years had it shined up like polished chrome. On the day he retired, he gave it to his favorite apprentice… tears flowed…

This was on my Keychain for the better part of 40 years at work.

Even though a normal wrench size was 1-1/16 and 1-1/8 this little fellow came in handy a lot.

Reminds me of the 1968  winter I spent commissioning the first ever horizontal Tube Turbine in the Chaudiere Falls Hull 2 power station  in Hull, Quebec.   Some days warmed up to -10F.

The next summer I was in Lay Dam Alabama where it cooled down to 96F for one day.
