This bleeping hood is gonna drive me to drinking. But I think it's almost ready to paint.

...Almost.

Little dings and stuff all over it. Two holes drilled for headlights by somebody and the bottom of the tombstone had to be completely rebuilt.

Almost...

As long as I had spent on my hood, after I painted it, I wished I had spent just a little more time on it.

Well this hood has been primer coated about 5 times, each after finding another ding to tap out and fix. Actually got another coat today. But it looks pretty good right now. I'll go over it tomorrow with 800 grit and scope it over once more.

And I've made up my mind on the fuel pump. Now I have to figure out where to put the thing. Not alot of room on a 701 to hide an electric pump...

I would stick with original if I could get a rebuild kit. My luck must be bad and I got tired of waiting.

kp, I rebuilt the one on my 701 with a kit from thenandnow, it was the vacuum style (no Lever). BTW I didn't go back and reread whole thread so I may have already mentioned this before.

This is what came off of it. I'm not opposed to a pulse style either. I've just not had any luck with the then and now vendor for a kit.

Spoke with someone first time I called, emailed pics with no response. Called back for two weeks and got voicemail. Left messages and emailed again several times. No response.

wow never had any trouble getting a hold of anyone. I talked to a female a couple times and she was very knowledgeable and help full, I hate that you are having so much trouble. Here is a pic of the kit I got from them for the Vacuum style pump. I couldnt find a pic of pump after repair but it did have the priming lever on it like the one you have pictured.

ya know I may have my pumps mixed up and the vacuum may have came off the 856. I rebuilt 3 in a row ( 701,856, and c160)and every one of them where a different style :D.

I'll be happy to take that piece of junk (with the quite desirable priming lever) off your hands! Send it on by mail (I’ll reimburse the postage) or to the Show with @953 nut!

I rebuilt a lot of them and never had to order a then now. Diaphragm in the jungle is about it. Always thought the then ones were a little pricey for what you get and yes I can be a cheap bastage.

They gotta be really bad not to be able to save.

Yours looks excellent Ken.

I ordered one. We'll see how it goes. Mine has all kinds of internal shenanigans with that primer lever.

Yeah it's already cleaned up.

Big blog of gunk when I removed it.

I got one or three of them but none with

the offset cam lever. I bet the bodies interchange.

I gotta get off my @$$ and do that pump tutorial one of these days. :D

Big J is right if all u need is diaphragm go with jungle but thenandnow is only place I know u can get everything else. The ones I rebuilt were full of trash and was causing me problems with keeping carbs clean even after new fuel lines and cleaning tanks out. It was like half of old fuel lines was in there, little black granuals of junk.:angry-banghead::angry-cussingblack:.

All those parts are in mine as well.

For two or three weeks they were only taking calls on Monday and Friday, and instructed buyers to email.

I may try again at some point but it was holding everything up and I got tired of waiting.
