Trapdoor hinges

Hi Don.

As best I can I've drawn up a wiring diagram of the motor control for the power hoist. I hope it makes sense to you as it's just mindblowing to me.

The limit switches are normally closed so as soon as the are depressed they cut power to the motor.

Let me know if you think I can put in an additional switch unit to control up and down from the top of the stairs, leaving the pendant controller down stairs to operate it from below.

The limit switches can just be bypassed as there is no way of operating the built in levers in the way I've mounted the unit.

Handy Don

This well exceeds my expectations -- I anticipated a sketch on a serviette!

At a quick glance, I should be able to come up with: a) an additional emergency stop and, b) an additional open/close switch, and c) additional limit switches for full open and full closed. I’ll have limited time until next week--my children have me booked for projects at their homes through the weekend!

If you need any more photos or information just let me know.

I bought a switch unit for the up and down control but its just two push buttons with Normally open micro switches. Might not be suitable for this project.

A few photos now the Zen room is just about finished.

Hello Mick,

To keep this thread uncluttered, I’m sending you a PM. 😄

Just by way of an update, Don has helped me with advice on the limit switches and is drawing up a way for me to mirror the control switches at at upstairs level.

I've made brackets for and fitted the limit switches today. They work exactly as I wanted and now there is no worry about having to let go of the switch at either end of travel.

Just a couple of covers to make to hide the switches a bit better and it will be great.

So, it's a Zen room, a space to relax and meditate in. It's also for yoga practice.

So I toddled along to an aerial yoga class today. Its the same as normal yoga but you do it suspended from a large sling which hangs from the ceiling.

So now I have to engineer two anchor points capable of holding 1000kg each!

This is me hanging upside down like a circus acrobat So you get the idea.

The search is on for anchor points and hardware.

Just doing some thinking about setting two anchor points into the ceiling so I can rig a yoga hammock.

Any thoughts on the sketch I've cobbled together.

Well, after a bunch of head scratching, nail biting and common sense engineering I've fitted the ceiling anchors for the yoga sling.

Essentially I've sandwiched the room ceiling, joists and composite roof deck between two lengths of C section steel beam. Using 4 x M12 high tensile steel studding bolts to clamp the two together.

This is plenty strong enough to support my weight and the forces created by moving in the sling such as when inverting etc.

Time will tell if I did a good enough job I guess but everything feels solid and tight at the moment.

I've taken the hand control to pieces and mounted the switches in a convenient place for operating the door from upstairs. If I decide I need a downstairs control I can make a remote switch as necessary.

Cover to be made for the electrical bits and mount the stop lock out switch.
