Achto is absolutely correct, ball hones are made to be ordered in the size they are used in, if the size is between 2 hone sizes, go to the next larger size.  3¾hole, 3¾ hone.

Why, oh Why, are the "dingleberry" hones so expensive?? -----Hmmmm, maybe its cuz they do such a good job??

Ive never liked ball hones myself, i use a 3 stone, crank up the tension and use brake cleaner for lube.  Cuts fast, hard on the stones, but leaves a nice pattern quickly.

Alot depends on the material and how bad it is, as well as my ring composition.

A K/M is just a cast iron bore, not quite as hard as a steel sleeve like a modern engine, if you're using normal iron rings, 180 or 220 is good, if you're using chro-moly faced rings a little finer grit, if available is better, like a 280 or a 320.  You have to make sure you set the cross hatch right on the last few passes, i like to use my cordless drill, low range, and slow my stroke rate down to set the cross hatch.

Biggest thing is cleaning, hot soapy water, you can't get it clean enough.

:text-yeahthat: I follow this by putting clean oil on a paper towel and scrubbing the cylinder. Repeat using a new towel each time until the towel comes out clean (no black residue on the paper towel)

:text-yeahthat:      My go to is in a spray can. Cylinders clean up well with liberal amount of break cleaner sprayed in all directions followed by clean lint free cloth to be sure you got everything. Once you are sure its clean a liberal coating of Deep Creep penetrating oil of your choice will keep the surface from accumulating dust and dirt prior to assembly.
