Change muffler style

Recommended Posts

Want to change a C-120 front mount to a side mount (like the newer 500 series) Found a picture of this muffler, look's like it might work.

Not sure of what tractor it fits and / or part number. Has any one done this ? (Don't like stacks or loud tractors)

On long hot summer days do have an issue with vapor lock. (Muffler sits within inches of fuel pump & carb)

Thought about trying electric cooling fan, but have allways been a fan of "side pipes".

Adaptations and modifications are are with in my realm of abilities.

Looks like that would be from a mid 80s 310, 312, 414, 416 etc with the single cylinder Kohler engine.

Should be about the same noise level as the stock C Series muffler.

Other than changing the look is there a specific reason for your swap?

We have that setup on the Wally Digger machine here. 416. I haven't seen any issues with vapor lock.

The 310-8 written on it is a clue.  This is for the M10/12/14 as used on the 300 series tractors.  Check the cast elbow coming out of your engine.  If it's just a 45, the spacing probably won't be right.  The Magnums use an "S" shaped 45 for this muffler and you may need that part, too.  And I'm not sure if the "C" hood will clear.

Thanks all for the help. Think I got it narrowed down.

(Quote from E-Bay) This muffler fits the Kohler single cylinder magnum engines on the wheel Horse tractors. 310-8, 312-8, 314-8 414-8, 416-8.

Part# 112213

I get done, will definitely be posting a picture.

Shout out to "Blasterdad"  Another sickle bar owner!

Got a few pic. posted of mine. Need to update though.

Moved it to a different tractor and redid drive belt system.
