sticking clutch

Have model 73420 Wheel Horse. Clutch hangs up when depressed. Any suggestions why?

Item #53 is a gas/shock that may be at the end of it's life.

Some replace it with a return spring on the left side of the tractor.

If your right side foot rest is pushed in too far it will hang up on the clutch arm.

Might just need a little grease on the involved linkages, and pivot points.

  I hear the gas shock thing far too often.  I’d go with a spring, but check for lubrication opportunities and hang ups through the system.

@Pullstart  agree with the spring  and the lubrication detailing .   making the rust run out  tells a story . aerosol  lubricant spray tube gets it in there , that entire  set up is problem prone . it can work with total ease , pete

Finally got around to working on this. Shaft has wear on it, going to clean it up and smooth out worn areas. Hopefully with some grease and spring should solve problem.

If the clutch cross-shaft has excessive wear as it passes through the two frames, it'll affect its operation. Fixes depend on location and amount of wear.
