Odd d-180 attachment!

Recommended Posts

jeremi3210

So I picked up this d-180 from a guy a few months ago with a deck, he said that he had a blade and a snowblower for it also but they were up at his cabin. Last weekend he called and said he has them at his house so I went to pick them up. Blower is very well used, blade is missing some parts and he had this! Pretty sure its home made but it works pretty good!

WHX??

Zooming in on it looks pretty cool. I like the tractor too!

Looks to be in really good shape for a D.  If it runs anything like @Achtos Betty...:handgestures-thumbupright:

So did he just throw the bar in on the deal?

Runs just as good as Betty! He said that he had some mower attachment also but never really said much else about it when I got the tractor. The d had to have been restored once I'd guess by some runs in the paint here and there. Other than some wiring and a few leaks its in great shape! It also has a 3 point and the rear pto. Just need to find the tiller for it.

:text-coolphotos:             Very nice buy.   I wouldn't be too surprised to find that sickle bar came from a Craftsman walk behind.       :handgestures-thumbupright:

I will have to look them up and check! Can tell that all of it isn't home made but made to fit I'd say.

Looks very similar to the Jari sickle mower I got at auction… and used part of it to build my front mount mower. :handgestures-thumbupright:

@jeremi3210, aerosol  red grease lubricant on that , cutter  , every slide point . do some detailing on the functioning of it , typically neglected , when they are free to move / cycle the sound and ease of  slide is impressive , pete

Me thinks they were made for other tractors too so broaden your horizons.

What the heck would we do without Greasy Pete around?

Could be... I wanna say Woods ??? They made the 2k rpm finnish mower that was with the super C  when I got it. Dang near willing to bet.

I'll get the numbers off it. Might not be as rare as one thinks.

Yo Jer ... bring it to plow and we'll see if it fits.

@WHX??   thanks for the reference , having done this regularly , recovering a long neglected , rusted attachment , to me is like a magical change , recovering the dead . once the lubrication creep /  soaking starts , just getting a movement is a win . make a rusted wreck , function like it should , also don,t be afraid  to enhance any function , with a washer firm up for more responsive linkage action . always add a  WHAT IF ?  i try this on action , make the rust run out , go grease, pete

They ain't exactly given them away tho are they? :jaw:

It appears they are made by Woods so with some red paint and a mitt full of decals others may work.

Yeah them seem a bit high, I found one in PA for about half just don't know when we could find time for the road Trip! If we do we will make sure to pick you up on the way and make it a adventure!

It would be fun! But we'd have to pass on the gentleman's clubs! Don't think Patti would be up for that!

I did build one, until I revved up the engine and shook it apart.  :hide:

I think this one would also if you run it over part throttle also! But it still looks cool on the tractor and does work decent. Think I will stick to my rj58 with the front bar for chopping tall weeds.

My jackshaft system did slow it down quite a bit, and I couldn’t believe the size of trees it would cut (at slow speed)!  Like a Chevy pickup, if it fits, it ships!  I think I gnawed through a couple 2” saplings with it going good.  Never slowed it down!
