Is a wheel horse 520h a decent tractor for pulling?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I am looking at a wheel horse to convert to a pulling tractor. I have the opportunity to purchase a 1988 520h. Would this be a good tractor to pull and is this a good tractor overall?

Thanks!

I don't think it would be the best candidate for a competitive pulling tractor. If it is just for fun and you are basically just going to keep it stock and add sum tires and stack sum weight on it then have fun. most pullers seem to stick with standard transmissions and the 520H is a hydro.

My 520H blow out a valve seat.  Any suggestions on a new motor or should I have the seat repaired?

Is this the correct setting to test the battery or voltage output? I tested four different batteries. The reading is saying about 17.0-17.5 on all 4 batteries.

Hello new to the forum I just bought a 1997 520h with 387 hrs  has a snowblower single stage and mower deck its in real good shape  i think it just needs a little maintaince.  Engine surges hopefully just needs a carb and tank cleaning. Headlights don t work and need to replace a idler sprocket on blower and possible have to replace the lift seal because the snowblower won't stay up it slowly lowers not sure if that's normal because if weight or needs to be fixed. Overall very happy I bought it  I grew up using my father's 520h

Can any one tell me what this is, other than just a Wheel Horse? The identification badging is missing, unless I am missing where it may be. The engine is a 14 horse Kohler, it is a hydro (both drive and deck lift), but other than that I am not sure about year/ model/ type of hydro drive/ if the hydro drive is one I can tap into for other hydraulic attachments such as lifts (3 point), etc...
Thank you in advance to all you WH guru's,
      Darren

P.S.-Is there a good way to get the steering wheel off without breaking it as I have another good one on the machine next to it.

Have  a C-81 with a 48" Snow Plow, the current Steel Bottom Scrapper  Blade  is on it's last season..... I have noticed as of late that quite a few folks are installing the POLY blades.....  I plow a 100' macadam driveway and my concern and/or question is how well and how DURABLE are these blade. I did install feet on my existing steel blade plow (see pics) to limit the normal wear.   Thanks for you input
