There is nothing like the first time you see one in pieces and then get it to run.

Thanks guys...this will be my first rebuild of a Kohler...I've built several small block Chevys so figure that this should go pretty smooth

You'll do fine. Just think of it as rebuilding a flat head Chevy :)

I figure I shouldn't have any troubles...been working on small engines since I was about 5 hanging out with my great-grandad in his shop every summer

Looks much better than what was left of my old one...it breaks my heart every time I want some seat time and can't get it lol...also didn't realize just how much I use this tractor until it went down on me

Man  , you were lucky you did not end up with a piece of metal in your body. Nice to get a block to rebuild.

Pieces flew right past but you're right luckily all that hit me was oil that came out

Professor1990  Are any of the internal parts savable? Like the crank? Make sure you look thru the kholer manuals here just to brush up on how it is done. It is not like a car motor but same principal in theory.

Surprisingly all the internals survived...I've already got the entire Kohler service manual printed up and ready to go too

Were you mowing when it grenaded or pulling a tree stump out of the ground? Glad all you got was an oil bath!!!  :omg:
