Sharp08 43 #1 Posted August 26, 2022 Looking for a seat bracket or ideas on alternatives for the seat bracket. My seat currently bolts directly to the pan and sits really low. Could someone post pictures of how their seat bolts to the bracket/pan so I can get some ideas? Thanks in Advance!

daveoman1966 3,841 #3 Posted August 26, 2022 You could start with either one of these brackets I have on eBay. Item # 133426054849 Between this (flip-up) bracket, you could try to locate the flat SEAT SPRINGS that bolt to it and your seat. Your seat bolts to the springs, springs bolt to the flip-up bracket, bracket bolts to your seatpan. Easy Peasy. I may have another set of springs...will have a look-C. I can put bracket and springs in your mailbox for $50... (if I have the springs, that is).
Sharp08 43 #4 Posted August 27, 2022 Thanks for the info and the offer fellas. I can't believe i am just noticing this but i guess that's how the 73's were meant to be? Looking at images from other 73s show the seat bolted directly to the pan.

IMHO, this configuration was not WH’s proudest engineering moment. My no-name 8/4 has this and a couple of other odd quirks like it. It’s a good little machine regardless, but leaves me shaking my head sometimes.

Poppa Bear 15 #7 Posted October 7, 2023 DaveOMan - did you ever part with that seat pan and those springs? If not - would you part with them - and ship them? I am located in Perth, Ontario, Canada - would have you ship to Ogdensburg, New York - and we would figure out payment logistics. Would appreciate. Thanks in advance Barry

One of the two springs I have was broken, then professionally welded. You can find a pair of good used springs on Ebay for $20 or so.

The 1973 fender pan might need some reinforcing on the under side after 50 years .Spuonk just added some 3/16" x 1" front to back bolted under the pan at the spring bolts. I added an 2 x 2 x1/8" angle under the pan at the back and a 2" x1/8" at the front with 1" tube each side on top after beating mine back in shape o my Raider. Picture of spuonk's can be found in "What have you done to your awheel Horse today?" page 800.
