formariz 9,033 #1 Posted Monday at 07:23 PM As requested here are two videos explaining my process in sharpening knives and chisels on a whetstone for not only purpose of sharpening process, but also for maintaining stones flat and straight as they are used.. Forgive the rambling sometimes but somehow the camera has that effect on me. What is required to this successfully is basically a little knowledge about the tools and their cutting edges, a little practice, and patience while learning it. Don't be discouraged if you do not have the same equipment. It can be done on anything at hand like a sheet of sandpaper glued to a flat surface and your pants on your thigh area to be used as a strop. Denim makes great strop material. 1 1
8ntruck 3,927 #2 Posted Monday at 07:47 PM (edited) The leather sole of a shoe is another good strop material. Any advice on sharpening a cabinet scraper? I've got one, but have never been successful in burnishing the burr on the edge. Edited Monday at 08:16 PM by 8ntruck
