New Pole Barn shop/garage/dojo building!!

Recommended Posts

ebinmaine

I spent most of the day moving a piece of pegboard from the old basement workshop to the new barn workshop.
Clean it off.
Disassembled.
Cut it 90½" long.
Notch the end and a hole for the electric plug.
Reinstall with 9 HD deck screws top and bottom.
This is ¼ thick and tempered. HD pegboard. No middle supports.
After that I organized and hung everything you see along with doing a few other things here and there.

Trina and her mom have been steadily working on firewood when they can.

Today they were adding to the stack under the right side shed roof.

IMG_20230917_170035.jpg.2c827021021612169e6a2920df4647ca.jpgThis stack is 14 ft long by 6 ft high.

As they go there will be another in front of it.

Above is what the large front doors have looked like since last year.

We've had such an incredibly wet year it's been nearly impossible to find a few dry days above 40⁰ so Trina could restart painting.

Fall is here now.

Excellent.

I seriously doubt I'd be allowed such luxury accommodations

Back door got paint today.

Trina just needs tape to finish up the corners.

I like the simple flashing covering the door-hanger track.

Quite functional too.

It's well known for dumping snow on my head when I'm walking in the big doors.

Put a door handle on the other end of the door so you aren’t standing under the track when opening?

Your idea is sound in principle but "Murphy's Law" and some sort of hidden forces are clearly working to dowse me in slush.

Even if I open the doors from the INSIDE I can manage to get hit.

Off n on rain today so it's an indoor shop day.

A few months ago we installed temporary lighting on the first floor.

A few weeks ago I ordered the permanent lights.

8 foot. Super bright.

10 lamps.

Here's half of them installed.

3 one side, 2 on the other.

And the upstairs as lit up.

BBT... and what that stands for... will be expanding the dojo soon too.

Oh yes sir. Absolutely.

I was referred to these by two different Redsquare peeps.

They look great.

PLENTY of illumination.

Reasonable price off the jungle site.

Coming along nicely Eric. Can you connect the lights to eachother and if so is there a limit to how much of them you can daisy chain?

I'm looking to replace my old fluorescent lights with LED ones, since the fluorescent ones keep cr#pping out one me, but I have trouble finding ones I can daisy chain up to 8 to 10 of them together.

Thanks Mark!

These are rated to be linked four lamps in a row.

Trina got more foam floor squares for the dojo.

The black part is 16 x 16.

Soon she'll be slicing up the walls to add more storage space between the trusses.

There should be 10 spaces on one side, 11 on the other.

22"+ width. Floor will go in 3.5, 4 ft.

Likely add second shelves here n there.

Well I had the gall to go to work today and leave the Trina person to her own devices.

She dragged her Momma person out to shopping and came home with several interesting things.

One of them was a 6 x 8 foot roll of AstroTurf.

The two of them sliced it up and laid down stair treads and a piece on the landing that sets about a third of the way up.

From now on there will be no street shoes allowed in the dojo.

Hmmm. That fake grass is not all that comfy with bare feet, in my experience!

Trina finished up putting the stair treads in.

We got the shelves and work counter that came from the auction set in place as well.

Shelves are bolted to the wall and post.  87" height.  36 wide. 18 deep.

The blue counter will likely be a work space for me. Carbs and electrical.  Wall space most likely will be another pegboard.
